Hardware Certification Criteria

Technical standards for the FrequencyPop Certified™ badge. Ensuring the precise delivery of digital psychoacoustics.

1. Certified Headphones (The Gold Standard)

Binaural entrainment requires precise stereo separation and phase coherence. Certified hardware must meet these strict acoustic benchmarks.

Frequency Response20Hz - 20kHz (±3dB)

Must reproduce the full audible spectrum without significant roll-off.

Why? Creating "Epsilon State" entrainment (0.5Hz) requires drivers capable of moving air at sub-bass frequencies without fluttering.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)< 0.5% @ 1kHz

Minimal distortion at 90dB SPL.

Why? Distortion introduces "phantom harmonics" which can alter the therapeutic ratio of the intended frequency (e.g. 432Hz -> 864Hz).
Channel Separation> 60dB

Strict isolation between Left and Right channels.

CRITICAL: Binaural beats rely on the brain processing two distinct signals. Crosstalk creates the beat in the wire, not the brainstem, destroying the effect.
Phase Linearity±15° (100Hz - 10kHz)

Consistent phase alignment across the vocal range.

Why? Essential for maintaining the "Phantom Center" image where the entrainment tone is perceived.

2. Spatial Speakers

  • Stereo Imaging: Must verify distinct Left/Right separation at 1 meter distance.
  • Bass Extension: Must resolve 40Hz at -6dB (Essential for Brown/Pink noise masking).

3. The "Sacred" Aesthetic

Preferred material/design choices for FrequencyPop partners.

Materials

Sustainable, natural materials (Wood, Metal, Fabric) preferred over cheap plastic to ground the listener.

Comfort

Low clamping force designed for long-duration sessions (20min+) without fatigue.

Testing conducted using G.R.A.S. 45CA Head & Torso Simulator and FrequencyPop Calibration Suite v2.0.
